Literature and history are closely associated because literature reflect the events and ideas going on during the time it was written. Literature can help us form our ideas about history by explaining it through the minds of the people that were writing during that time. For example during the times of civil right what was written by an African American will vary from what was written by a Caucasian. In reading different works we get an idea of how the events occurring were viewed by different people. Also in reading literature often you can get an idea of the mentality of the people of that time. Though often writers of history are found to be ahead of their time in mind set.
